FCC Toastmasters: Success is a Journey... Not a Destination
Since my childhood I have been told to climb the ladder of success. I have struggled over the last few years of my life trying to be someone everyone can call a successful person.
But how do we measure success? Some people thinks success is about having a big amount of money in their bank accounts while others are more on the relationship side. A post on Facebook struck my attention, the guy posted: Success is not the key to happiness… Happiness is the key to success!
I had a deeper thought because of his words, I then thought in life, all of us wants something and achieving it would mean we are successful. But after we have found what we looked for yesterday today, for sure tomorrow we would look for something else.
And so it’s said:
Success is a Journey… Not a destination because doing is more important than the outcome.

FCC Toastmasters once again held a high spirited successful meeting last Friday 15 October 2010. The meeting was graced by some of the top officers of district 79. Among the guests were:
DTM Khaled Al Qoud – Lieutenant Governor for Education and Training
DTM Alex Ginete – Lieutenant Governor for Marketing
DTM Ravie Warrier - (Dubai Advance Toastmasters & City of Gold Toastmasters)
DTM Cherry Pye Zablan Torres – Division Asst. Governor for Education and Training
Area 40 Governor Kiruba was also present in the meeting. The meeting was a showcase of three powerful speakers. MTM Glory Jean Bantugan and CL Grace Joy Eramiz delivered their project 5. And a guest from ECC Toastmasters completed his CC at FCC, now competent communicator Muzamil Mohammed delivered his 10th project during the meeting.
The speakers were evaluated by an even more powerful set of personalities as three DTMs performed the role of evaluators: DTM Ravie, DTM Khaled and DTM Cherry Pye.
The night ended with an uplifting evaluation by another very important personality: DTM Alex Ginete was the General Evaluator who cited the things that went well and suggested improvements for future meetings. He ended his evaluation with a short line: “You are all beautiful!”
Role Players:
MTM Florinel Kyla Laderas - Registration
MTM Lilibeth Urbano – SAA
CC William Caraan – TMOD/ TMON
MTM Loida Bargamento - Grammarian
CC/CL Nannibelle Gonzales – Table Topics Master
TM Gilson Paranada – Timer
CC Lourdes Gamboa – Listening Post
Ryan Garcia - Photo Master
Daniel Menguita - Video Master
Awardees:
Best in Table Topics: MTM Johlee Jimenez
Best Speaker: MTM Glory Jean Bantugan
Best Evaluator: DTM Khaled AL Qoud
Best Role Player: CC William Caraan
To summarize: the meeting was superb and from it I have learned that success may begin with one person’s idea. But success may not always be reachable with only “The Power of One”. In this journey we would always find other people who can help us, the journey would be even easier if we are “Journeying with Heroes”. If ever obstacles are met along the way, we need not to worry instead we just have to “Bowl it On” and hit a strike as we take this journey… this success.
